Reiki Treatment

You relax, fully clothed, on a couch or seated while the healer holds his hands on or above you. A treatment can last an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. In the western world many practitioners use the standard hand positions and commonly a full treatment is given covering all the important organs of the body.

There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are even held away from the body. The energy flows wherever it is required (spiritually guided) and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing and soothing experience!

How is Reiki Learned?

To become a Reiki channel, all one needs is the desire to learn and a commitment to use Reiki. The First Degree Course is taught by a Master in evening or weekend classes. There are four initiations within the course which reopen and attune the students to their inner healing channels. All of the basic hand positions necessary for treatments are taught and there is ample time devoted to practicing these positions in class. A context is created wherein the student can come to accept, honor and develop the capacities that exist within for channeling this gentle, yet powerful, healing energy. The channeling of such a loving, healing energy is a truly uplifting and empowering experience.

The Second Degree is the next level of attunement, power and Sacred Knowledge of this ancient system. In this next level you will learn symbols of higher octaves of light energy used in treatments and in absentia healing; as well as the beginnings of subtle emotional work. further growth, healing and spiritual unfoldment will be initiated, along with the personal expansion that is the trademark of this system. You will feel the potent shifts and changes in the very fiber of your energy construct.”

What to Expect During a Reiki Healing Session

You will be asked to lay down on a massage table, couch, or bed. You will be fully clothed except for your shoes. You may also be asked to remove or loosen your belt so that your breathing is not restricted in any way. It is best to choose loose-fitting garments to wear on the day of your appointment. Wearing natural fabrics is best (cotton, wool, or linen). You may also be asked to remove any jewelry (rings, bracelets, pendants, etc.) prior to the session, so consider leaving these items at home.

Relaxing Atmosphere

Reiki practitioners will often create a relaxing atmosphere for their Reiki sessions, setting the mood with the use of dimmed lights, meditative music, or bubbling water fountains. Some practitioners prefer to be in a place that is completely silent, without distraction of music of any kind, to conduct their Reiki sessions in.
